One of the largest employers in Oxfordshire, ODS Group, offer a vast range of services from waste and recycling collections to managing parks and play areas. Their previous website had become overly complex and was burdened with excessive information. Our goal was clear: deliver a more streamlined, focussed and commercially-minded website.

Our team of tech experts was also tasked with creating a CMS that would be used by over five different departments within the business. It was crucial that each department felt like a self-contained site while still being part of the same CMS and website structure. Ease of editing was essential so employees could continuously improve and update the site as the business grows.

To overcome this challenge, our team crafted a separate stylesheet for each department that utilised their specific brand colours. When clicking on each department, the navigation changes to minimise the corporate site pages. Plus, headings are automatically the correct colours. This made the content input more straightforward, with the page taking its style from the URL path and parent. This removed the potential for worry about accidentally using the wrong department colours.

Most modules were provided with several variations, giving the room for flexibility while adhering to brand guidelines. This was epitomised by the content and media module, which can have the image in the shape of an ‘O’, ‘D’ or ‘S’, plus the option for a shape overlay.

To make the website more dynamic and engaging, we created new modules such a pinned media section and a scrolling cards section, which helped bring the content to life. Our team also facilitated a seamless data import, including images, ensuring that the client's success stories and news articles were efficiently transferred to the new website.

The end result is a streamlined, user-friendly, and commercially focused website that ODS Group are very happy with. The easy-to-use editing features empower them to continuously improve and update the site as their business grows.
